Multiple data sources- Access to data is managed by a database wrapper called a Dictionary. The Dictionary stores information that allows us to access and link diverse data sources, so they can work together just like a database. The Dictionary gives you the benefits of a database, while allowing you to keep using your non-relational data.

  • Flat Files- Relative( fixed record length) and Sequential( record terminated with LF or CRLF) files.
  • Indexed Files- Key indexed files, and RM-COBOL Indexed files.
  • SQL Data- all databases that allow communication through pipes.
  • ODBC Data- connect to any data source that has an ODBC driver.

Comprehensive record selection capabilities

  • START/ STOP- Limit the amount of data that is read when building your DataSet by setting a starting value and a stop value for a field. Only the records( or rows) that reside between the two values are read.
  • IF/ AND- Create a condition to eliminate records from your DataSet. If a record passes a condition it is added to the DataSet. You can apply multiple conditions in one report.

User defined calculations and prompts

  • Calculate Percentages, Averages, Dates, etc....
  • Use conditional calculations when the calculation is not applied to all of the records( or Rows) in your DataSet.
  • Prompted data allows you to ask the user for information, or values when the report is run. Prompted data makes it easy to apply custom date ranges or limits to your data set every time your report is run.

Multiple sort, Breaks, and sub total levels

  • Add up to eight sort levels to a report. The first sort level represents the major sort level. Every sort level after the major sort level is applied without disrupting the order of the previous sort.
  • Breaks cause a page break when a field or part of a field of the current record changes value( meaning it contains a value that is not equal to the value of the same field of the previous record read).
  • Add subtotals after each break, or add grand totals at the end of the report.

Output formats

  • Delimited text- create output that separates each field with a delimiter.
  • Spreadsheet- quoted delimited fields( *.csv).
  • Reports- create custom reports tailored to your needs with our extensive formatting capabilities.
  • Labels- continuous forms, laser-labels, one-up, two-up, etc....
  • HTML- predefined formats, internal hyperlinks, tables, or custom markups

Y2K compliant

  • Fully Y2K compliant.
  • Support for non-Y2k applications using pivot dates. WDW interprets dates with a year that is less than the pivot date as twenty first century, and any year greater than the pivot as the twentieth century.

    Example
If the Pivot Date is 01/01/70, dates with the years 70 to 99 are treated as 1970-1999, and dates with the years 00 to 69 are treated as 2000-2069.
